proposal Lichtenbergplatz Darmstadt
The Lichtenbergplatz fits between the residential buildings of the Martinsviertel in Darmstadt. At present functions as a place of passage and offers little reason to linger. It must be redesigned so that it offers the residents a better quality of stay.

In our concept takes up the lines of Lichtenbergstraße and determines the design of the square. Lines of coloured asphalt draw passers-by away from the street and towards the square. In the square, benches, tables, bicycle stands and planting beds develop from the lines. Besides an old transformer will be integrated into a small new building, including a bar and a swap meet.

Both the building and the beds are planted with perennials and grasses of different heights. Some of the selected plants will flower several times a year and their leaves will remain a rich green until late in the autumn. This will make the square a pleasant place to stay for all visitors, especially during this period.
